CIR DOMUS Predoctoral Fellowship: The UNIJES CIR for Environment and Ecology launches the DOMUS project The UNIJES Reference Research Centre (CIR) for Environment and Ecology is launching a call for applications for the selection of a predoctoral candidate from the UNIJES university centres to undertake a doctoral thesis within the framework of the DOMUS project, funded through a three-year predoctoral contract. The doctoral thesis project will be developed at any of the UNIJES universities or university centres, under the coordination of the CIR for Environment and Ecology.

This call is open to predoctoral candidates, as well as researchers from UNIJES university centres who may act as thesis supervisors. The doctoral thesis will be co-supervised by Dr Cristina Alonso Alija, IQS, and Director of the CIR for Environment and Ecology.

PROPOSAL The DOMUS project seeks to combine academic excellence and social impact by generating knowledge that can be published in areas such as community sustainability, environmental behavioural change, service-learning, participatory research, and information systems for sustainability. At the same time, it aims to produce tools, indicators, and support processes that can be used by communities and institutions to advance the Care for Our Common Home.

DOMUS is not merely an environmental measurement project, but rather research into how communities learn, organise themselves, and transform their environmental practices when they have access to self-assessment tools, support, structured data, and spaces for collective reflection.

The project aims to make an original contribution to knowledge in the field of community sustainability through:

- the development and validation of an adaptive environmental self-assessment model;
- the integration of Service-Learning (SL) in non-formal contexts;
- the analysis of behavioural change mechanisms in communities.

This research is expected to contribute to advancing the state of the art in:

- environmental behavioural change;
- collective learning in communities;
- the transition towards sustainable practices at the local level.

The project must address the following areas:
- Development of an environmental self-assessment system adapted to communities and works

and institutions of different scales;
- Design of facilitation mechanisms that enable self-assessment results to be translated into

concrete improvement actions;
- Integration of Service-Learning (SL) as a support methodology for analysis, action, and learning;
- Analysis of behavioural change processes arising from the interaction between assessment,

learning, and action. The project may also investigate:
- factors influencing the adoption of sustainable practices;
- the impact of Service-Learning (SL) on behavioural change;
- the relationship between social cohesion, collective learning, and sustainability;
- the impact of networking among communities;
- socioeconomic dimensions associated with these processes.

Characteristics of the predoctoral fellowship and candidate profile The predoctoral fellowship constitutes extraordinary funding awarded by the UNIJES CIR and will enable the employment of a predoctoral researcher for three years, with a planned start in the 2026–2027 academic year, in accordance with the conditions established by the host university or university centre and the applicable academic and labour legislation. The candidate will join an official doctoral programme at one of the UNIJES university centres.

The doctoral thesis will be co-supervised by the Director of the CIR for Environment and Ecology, Dr

Cristina Alonso Alija. The researcher selected through this call will participate in the co-supervision of the doctoral thesis and in the scientific development of the DOMUS project.

The researcher and predoctoral candidate will be selected by the Executive Committee of the CIR for

Environment and Ecology.
