Your mission

As a Materials Engineer at Supernova, you will focus on developing, testing, and optimizing the material-related processes that enable our VLM technology. Working at the intersection of materials and process engineering, you will design and execute experiments to understand how material properties, printing parameters, curing conditions, and post-processing steps affect part quality and performance. A particular focus will be working with highly solid-loaded and particle-filled materials, understanding how solid loading, particle characteristics, rheology, and processing conditions influence printability and process stability.





You will help translate new and existing materials into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes, supporting the team from early laboratory trials through process validation.

A significant part of your role will be hands-on experimental work and close collaboration with Engineering teams. You will support material characterization and formulation activities when needed, and your primary focus will be on material-process interactions, process windows, repeatability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This will include addressing the processing challenges associated with highly filled materials, such as mixing and handling, flow behavior, particle dispersion and sedimentation, and curing behavior.

You will use data from experiments and printed parts to identify root causes, define process improvements, and help ensure materials can be reliably integrated into our printing systems.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and optimize material-related processes and printing parameters for industrial 3D printing applications, including highly solid-loaded and particle-filled materials.
- Design and execute structured experiments to understand material-process interactions and define robust process windows.
- Plan and perform laboratory and printing trials, collecting and analyzing data to evaluate process performance and repeatability.




- Characterize materials and printed parts to understand the relationship between solid loading, rheology, particle characteristics, process conditions, and final part performance.
- Support the development and optimization of material preparation, mixing, handling, curing, printing, and post-processing conditions, with particular attention to highly filled materials.
- Collaborate with Materials, Mechanical, and Process Engineering teams to integrate new and existing materials into printing systems.
- Troubleshoot process and material-related issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement improvements to quality, reliability, and repeatability.

About You

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Hands-on laboratory or engineering experience working with polymers, photopolymers, composites, particle-filled or solid-loaded materials, coatings, additive manufacturing, or related materials and processes.
- Basic understanding of material characterization and experimental methods; knowledge of rheology, particle-filled systems, photopolymerization, or UV-curable materials is a plus.
- Interest in process development, experimental design, data analysis, and translating laboratory results into reliable manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, a practical engineering mindset, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary R&D; environment and willingness to spend significant time performing hands-on experimental work.
- Fluent in English, both in technical communication and documentation.
