The Compliance Officer is responsible for executing and continuously enhancing the organization’s sanctions screening and country risk management. The role ensures that all relevant counterparties, transactions, and jurisdictions are assessed in line with applicable sanctions laws. In addition, the Compliance Officer supports the organisation in maintaining and operating a robust and defensible financial crime control framework.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Sanctions Compliance
- Perform daily/periodic screening of customers, prospects, suppliers, partners, and other third parties against applicable sanctions lists using screening tools.
- Review, investigate, and validate potential matches
- Escalate confirmed matches and support decision-making on appropriate actions
- Manage stakeholder communication and reporting at all levels.
2. Export Control Compliance
- Monitor and interpret applicable export control laws and regulations as part of the broader sanctions and trade compliance framework.
- Translate export control requirements into clear, pragmatic, and operationally implementable frameworks, ensuring consistent application across business activities.
- Perform ongoing monitoring of products, services, software, and technologies against applicable export control requirements, ensuring alignment with defined export control frameworks.
3. Country Risk Management
- Support the development and maintenance of the country risk framework, including risk ratings and classification of jurisdictions.
- Monitor geopolitical developments and sanctions impacting country risk profiles.
