About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Forestry Technician to assist in managing and monitoring forest resources in the Queenstown area. This role involves hands-on fieldwork to support sustainable forest management practices, including timber harvesting, reforestation, and wildlife habitat assessment. You will work closely with foresters and other professionals to ensure the health and productivity of forest ecosystems in the Eastern Cape . This position requires a strong commitment to conservation and a willingness to work outdoors in various environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting forest inventories, including tree measurements, species identification, and growth estimations.
- Support the implementation of reforestation and afforestation projects, including site preparation and planting.
- Monitor forest health, identify signs of disease, insect infestation, or environmental damage.
- Participate in fieldwork related to timber harvesting operations, ensuring compliance with regulations.




- Collect data on wildlife populations and habitat conditions within forest areas.
- Operate and maintain forestry equipment, including GPS devices, chainsaws, and vehicles.

Requirements
- A diploma or certificate in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Forestry Technician or in a similar outdoor field role.
- Proficiency in forest measurement techniques and data collection.
- Knowledge of common tree species, forest pests, and diseases.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote outdoor settings.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to work in challenging weather conditions.
