Salary - Salary Plan, 63,000.00 GBP AnnualThe Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has a great opportunity for a Software Development Team Lead to join us on a permanent full-time basis.

As a Software Development Team Leader for the Royal Society of Chemistry, you will shape the software architecture and the fine-grained detail of configuration and implementation throughout the software development lifecycle for performance, security and maintainability of the applications we build.

You will play a key role within our DevOps function, acting as a hands-on technical leader while managing a team of cross-functional engineers. This team includes back-end developers (C#/.NET, Node.js), front-end developers (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Vue.js), test automation engineers, and Site Reliability Engineers (AWS).

Alongside leading and developing your team, you will remain actively involved in technical deliverysupporting design decisions, coding, guiding implementation, and ensuring best practices are followed.



Your work will enable the Royal Society of Chemistry to build, scale and continuously improve our digital platforms and services for a general audience.

You will take ownership of the technical direction of the product roadmap, working closely with Solution Architects and other technical leaders to contribute to and evolve a shared architectural vision. You will guide agile teams through implementation, prioritise and assign backlog work, and ensure high-quality, reliable delivery of solutions, including responsibility for technical changes and releases.

In addition to your technical leadership, you will line manage and mentor a small group of developers, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture and supporting their professional growth.
