Certification Lead

Location: Spain | On-site / Hybrid

✛ Overview ✛

HYTE has been retained by a fast-growing, venture-backed advanced engineering company to appoint a Certification Lead into a critical technical leadership position.

This individual will sit at the forefront of advanced aerospace certification, supporting the development, certification and continued airworthiness of next-generation propulsion, power distribution and energy storage technologies for aviation applications .

The Certification Lead will provide technical leadership across certification strategy, regulatory engagement, airworthiness compliance and continued operational safety, working closely with engineering, programme and executive leadership teams.

A key requirement for this appointment is experience supporting or leading the certification of an aircraft engine, propulsion system or similarly complex airborne system , with direct exposure to regulatory authorities such as EASA and/or FAA .

This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in the certification of highly innovative aerospace technology, combining established certification expertise with the challenges associated with emerging propulsion and energy systems.

✛ Key Responsibilities ✛

- Lead certification and airworthiness activities across complex aerospace development programmes.
- Develop certification strategies, certification plans and means of compliance in alignment with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support the acquisition of Type Certification, Validation and Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs).
- Lead engagement with regulatory authorities including EASA,



FAA and other applicable certification bodies .
- Interpret certification requirements, special conditions and regulatory guidance, assessing their impact on programme activities.
- Prepare and review certification artefacts including FHA, FMEA, SSA, certification plans, compliance reports, qualification plans and verification documentation.
- Review engineering activities, product artefacts and verification programmes to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
- Support development, verification and validation activities across hardware, software and integrated systems.
- Provide technical leadership on continued airworthiness and continued operational safety matters.
- Contribute to organisational approval activities including DOA, POA and associated approval frameworks .
- Drive certification efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
- Represent the organisation with regulatory authorities, customers, suppliers and relevant industry working groups.

✛ Candidate Profile ✛

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within aerospace certification, airworthiness or compliance engineering environments.
- Direct experience supporting or leading the certification of an aircraft, aircraft engine, propulsion system, powerplant or other major airborne system .




- Experience working directly with EASA, FAA or equivalent aviation authorities .
- Strong understanding of certification frameworks including Type Certification, Validation, STCs and continued airworthiness requirements.
- Experience preparing and reviewing certification documentation including FHA, FMEA, SSA, compliance reports and qualification documentation.
- Ability to understand complex engineering systems, identify potential failure modes and assess certification risk.
- Experience operating across multidisciplinary engineering teams including systems, hardware, software and safety disciplines.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence and credibility to engage directly with regulators, customers and senior technical stakeholders.
- Previous experience as a DER, DOA Unit Member or equivalent certification authority representative would be highly advantageous.
- Exposure to aircraft integration, modifications/upgrades, STCs, TSOs, propulsion systems, electrical power distribution or energy storage systems would be highly desirable.
