What You’ll Own
- Review clinical case material describing adolescent substance use and provide thorough assessments of risk, severity, and intervention urgency.
- Evaluate the safety and clinical appropriateness of proposed and alternative interventions, including pharmacological options when relevant.
- Distinguish between developmentally normal experimentation and clinically significant patterns of substance use among adolescents.
- Identify and flag withdrawal, overdose, and safeguarding risks that require escalation or immediate action.
- Develop clear, actionable written guidance for non-specialists, explaining the rationale and referencing relevant standards or guidelines.
- Compare and benchmark assessments against peer input and published best practices to ensure consistency and rigor.
What We’re Looking For
- 3-5+ years of post-certification experience working directly with adolescents impacted by substance use.
- Clinical specialty in addiction medicine, or child/adolescent psychiatry or psychology with a primary focus on substance use disorders.
- Active clinical license or registration in good standing, with recent adolescent caseload experience within the past two years.
- Proficiency with adolescent substance use screening and severity staging tools, including CRAFFT, S2BI, DSM-5, and ASAM criteria.
- Familiarity with medication for opioid use disorder, including MOUD/MAT, and withdrawal management protocols for patients under 18.
- Excellent written English skills, with native or equivalent proficiency such as IELTS 7.5+ overall with 7.0+ in writing, TOEFL 100+, Cambridge C1-C2, or equivalent.
Preferred
- Training in motivational interviewing.
- Experience in adolescent inpatient or crisis settings.
