The Group of Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions
is seeking a laboratory technician to work on neurodevelopmental
disorders, including attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder
(ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The candidate will join
the Psychiatric Genetic Unit , a lab dedicated to understand the
genetics of psychiatric disorders in children and adults with the
ultimate goal to identify biomarkers for disease. We are involved
in genotyping, gene and microRNA expression, epigenetics and
microbiome analyses and are looking for a motivated research
technician to work alongside our scientists to help elucidate the
genetic and psychological landscape of these poorly understood
conditions. Education and qualifications: Required: Higher
Technician Diploma in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory Previous
experience in biochemical techniques and molecular biology. Good
communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
Experience and knowledge: Required: Proven experience in biological
sample handling Strong background in laboratory techniques
Familiarity with laboratory information management systems and
databases Competence in operating laboratory equipment and
materials Strong communication skills and ability to work in
multidisciplinary teams High motivation. Proactive and motivated
person, capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering
outputs to the required standard. Strong organisation and
team-working skills. Team Player and critical thinker. Ability to
work independently Previous experience in biochemical techniques
and molecular biology. Good communication skills and fluency in
written and spoken English. Main responsibilities and duties: The
adecuado candidate will understand molecular biology and basic
laboratory techniques. Primary tasks and responsibilities include
but are not limited to: Receiving and logging blood and saliva
samples. DNA/RNA/microRNA extraction from fresh tissues. Performing
DNA/RNA quality control and cur
