About the role

This role supports Council's disaster management framework by working closely with Community Disaster Management Groups to deliver prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities in line with the _Disaster Management Act 2003 (QLD)_.

The position focuses on coordinating disaster management planning,



supporting emergency preparedness and response, strengthening community resilience, and assisting with Council wide disaster management and climate resilience initiatives.

What you will be doing:
- Working alongside Community Disaster Management Groups to support prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities.
- Guiding and supporting groups to meet their responsibilities under the Disaster Management Act (QLD) 2003.
- Keeping local disaster plans, procedures, and coordination arrangements up to date and practical.
- Helping communities build resilience through better planning and preparedness.
- Delivering education and awareness programs that equip communities to respond to disasters and adapt to climate related impacts.
- Supporting climate resilience initiatives and helping communities prepare for future challenges.
