The overall function of this position is to assist the Project Engineer by supervising a team of construction inspectors engaged in construction inspection duties and reports directly to Engineer 6, Project Engineer. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

- Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus five years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
- Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus five years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
- Thirty semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering tech
