About Stark

Stark builds the world’s most powerful electric motorcycles. From the VARG MX to the road-legal VARG EX & SM, our bikes have won world championships and are engineered to outperform anything with a combustion engine.

The Role

Homologation makes a Stark road-legal in Europe, the US, Australia, Taiwan, Brazil, China and every market we open next. As Senior Homologation Engineer you will be the technical owner of that work: the Type Approval files, the COP programme, component and system certifications, and the direct relationship with technical services and approval authorities.

This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role at the centre of the company, coordinating with vehicle engineering, quality, production and commercial teams.

You will join a small, senior team that is scaling. There is a clear path to growing regulatory capability around you as Stark enters new markets.

What You’ll Do

Whole Vehicle Homologation

- Own the Whole Vehicle Type Approval files under Regulation (EU) 168/2013: information documents, drawing packages and Certificates of Conformity.
- Plan and execute homologation and certification in main non-EU markets, such as the US, Canada and Australia.
- Manage base approvals and extensions through their full lifecycle.
- Run the COP programme: manage the test schedule and execution in coordination with Quality.
- Support homologation in new key markets, such as Latin America, China, Brazil, India, Korea and Japan.

Components and systems

- Support certification for chargers, lighting devices, batteries and connected components.
- Maintain the Technical File for compliance with the EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.

Design, engineering and cross-functional work

- Deploy regulatory requirements into engineering early, including design reviews from the CAD stage.
- Request, compare and negotiate quotations from technical services.
- Monitor regulatory developments through industry associations and technical committees.

What you will bring to Stark

- Degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial or Automotive.
- 5+ years in vehicle type approval, homologation or regulatory compliance engineering, ideally on L-category vehicles.
- Solid working knowledge of Regulation (EU) 168/2013 and the relevant UN Regulations (R10, R53, R78, R85, R148/R149, R155).
- Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting complete type-approval dossiers, and managing approvals through their full lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience coordinating and witnessing tests with technical services (IDIADA, DEKRA, TÜV or equivalent), and the ability to critically review test reports rather than simply file them.
- Understanding of COP and of quality-management systems.
- Rigorous technical documentation skills.
- Fluent English.
- Autonomous, structured and comfortable making a compliance decision in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to Have

- Experience with electric powertrains: electrical safety, EMC, chargers, battery systems.
- Familiarity with the EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 and the Digital Battery Passport.
- Regulatory cybersecurity experience (RED Delegated Act, UN R155, Cyber Resilience Act).
- Non-EU homologation experience: US, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, India, China, Brazil, or Latin America.
- Product or electrical safety certification: CB Scheme, CE marking.
- Experience being the audited party in front of an approval authority.
- A genuine interest in motorcycles.
