Summary – basic function of the role We are seeking an
Automation Engineer – AGV
to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for the development, programming, commissioning, and technical support of AGV systems throughout the full project lifecycle.
The position combines office-based automation engineering with hands‑on international commissioning work at customer sites. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of reliable heavy‑duty AGV solutions for general industrial customers and will be comfortable working both at a desk and in the field.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and program AGV control software using
CODESYS
and
Siemens TIA Portal .
Integrate, test, and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems.
Commission and start up AGV systems at customer facilities worldwide.
Validate vehicle functionality, perform on‑site testing, and debug operational behavior.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams during all project phases.
Provide technical support during customer ramp‑up activities and deliver operator or maintenance training when required.
Prepare and maintain software documentation, configuration records, and commissioning procedures.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and project requirements during commissioning activities.
Skills and Competencies
Practical PLC programming experience with:
CODESYS
(Structured Text mandatory),
and/or
Allen‑Bradley RSLogix / Studio 5000 .
Experience with
AGV, AMR, or mobile industrial machinery .
Programming knowledge in
Python
or
C# .
Familiarity with
ROS / ROS2 .
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as
CAN Bus, EtherCAT, Profinet, and Modbus .
Understanding of AGV navigation technologies including
LiDAR, natural navigation, and reflector‑based systems .
Additional European language skills (e.g.,
German or French ) are an advantage.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in
Industrial, Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering , or a related discipline.
Minimum
2 years of experience
in industrial automation.
Solid understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems used in industrial machinery.
Hands‑on commissioning and startup experience in an industrial environment.
English level B2 or higher , with the ability to communicate effectively with international customers and project teams.
Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis (approximately
20%
of working time).
