About the Role:

We are looking for a GL Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in Madrid.

This is a hands-on accounting role for someone with 2–5 years of experience who genuinely enjoys accounting, understands the logic behind the numbers, and wants to continue developing strong technical accounting skills within an international environment.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in external audit, especially within a Big Four or other leading audit firm, who are looking to transition into an in-house accounting role and take direct ownership of the numbers.

You will play an active role in the General Ledger and month-end close process, working closely with the Finance team in Spain and our corporate office in California.

We are looking for someone who doesn't just process transactions, but wants to understand why an entry is being made, how accounts connect, and how the accounting ultimately flows through the financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in the monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications and other closing adjustments.




- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain and review General Ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Support accounting for fixed assets, depreciation and amortization.
- Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Review accounting activity and identify unusual balances, inconsistencies or errors.
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements and management reporting.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable, FP&A; and other Finance functions to ensure accurate accounting and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with external audits, preparing documentation and responding to accounting-related requests.
- Collaborate with external accounting and tax advisors when required.
- Support the corporate Finance team in California with accounting information and reporting requirements.
- Participate in the improvement and standardization of accounting processes, controls and procedures.

What We're Looking For

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in General Ledger, financial accounting, external audit or a similar role.
- Previous experience in external audit is highly valued,



particularly within a Big Four or other leading audit firm.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements and the relationship between P&L;, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
- Experience with or strong exposure to month-end closing, journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statement review.
- Strong analytical mindset and the ability to investigate discrepancies and understand what sits behind the numbers.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with an ERP system; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC); exposure to US GAAP is highly valued.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Previous experience in an international environment or the hospitality/real estate industry is a plus.
