Software Asset Management Specialist
About the Role
One of our clients is looking for a Software Asset Management Specialist to strengthen its Software Asset Management activities within its IT department.
This role combines administrative, analytical and coordination activities, providing transversal support to IT, Procurement and Finance teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliable, compliant and cost-efficient management of the client's software portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of IT software licenses, from initial request and approval through acquisition, deployment, monitoring and renewal.
- Maintain an accurate, reliable and up-to-date license database, covering active, expired, renewable and licenses to be retired.
- Review and analyse software contracts, licensing terms and usage conditions, in close collaboration with IT, Procurement and Finance.
- Analyse software usage data to identify unused, under-utilised or over-licensed software and recommend optimisation opportunities.
- Monitor and report on key Software Asset Management KPIs, including active licenses, unused licenses, upcoming renewals, compliance risks and potential cost savings.
- Prepare analyses, reports and dashboards to support management decision-making.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of SAM processes, data quality and governance.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external software vendors to ensure effective license management and timely renewals.
- Contribute to cost optimisation, license compliance and risk management across the software portfolio.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Software Asset Management, software licensing, IT Procurement, IT Asset Management or a similar role.
- Good understanding of software licensing models and major software vendors.
- Experience with SAM / ITAM solutions and license management processes.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with data and reporting tools such as Advanced Excel, SQL and/or Power BI.
- Strong administrative skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across IT, Procurement, Finance and external vendors.
- Ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear, actionable recommendations.
- French and Dutch fluent language, combined with fluent English.
