We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Finance to lead the financial operations of our Spanish entities based in Madrid. This role will oversee local accounting, financial reporting, and finance administration while ensuring full compliance with Spanish GAAP (Plan General Contable – PGC), local tax regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements under IFRS for group consolidation.

The role will be responsible for managing the full accounting cycle, including month-end and quarter-end close, financial reporting to corporate headquarters in Toronto, AP/AR oversight, vendor and service provider management, and financial planning coordination with department leaders and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). This role will report directly to the Group CFO.

This position will also manage the local Finance & Administration team in Spain and serve as the subject matter expert for ERP systems, accounting processes, and financial controls, supporting ongoing improvements in financial reporting, systems, and operational efficiency.

The adecuado candidate is a proactive finance professional comfortable working in a multi-entity, multi-currency international environment and collaborating with stakeholders across Europe and North America

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Leadership & Local Finance Management

Lead and manage the Finance and Administration function in Spain, including oversight of accounting operations and local finance staff.

Act as the primary finance lead for Spanish entities, ensuring compliance with Spanish GAAP (PGC), tax regulations, and statutory reporting obligations.

Serve as the main liaison with Corporate Finance in Toronto, ensuring timely reporting, alignment with group policies, and support for consolidated reporting.

Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Department Heads to support budgeting, cost management, and financial planning initiatives.

Support corporate strategic initiatives, financial analysis, and operational decision-making.

Month-End & Quarter-End Close

Lead the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to reporting deadlines.

Prepare and review:

Monthly financial statements (including P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow reports)





P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow reports

Variance analysis versus budget and forecast

Supporting schedules and reconciliations

Provide financial reporting packages to Corporate Finance in Toronto for consolidation and executive reporting.

Coordinate year-end close activities, support external audits for group company reporting, and manage local statutory audit for Spanish entity reporting.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering

Work closely with Department Heads and operational leaders to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts.

Provide financial insights to support decision-making across departments including operations, marketing, esports, and content production.

Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis to CFO with financial recommendations.

Support cost planning and execute cost control initiatives.

Vendor, Service Provider & External Liaison

Act as the primary finance contact for collections, vendors, service providers, and external advisors.

Oversee vendor onboarding, contract coordination, and payment processes.

Manage relationships with:

External accountants

Tax advisors

Payroll providers

Legal advisors

Auditors

Ensure vendor agreements and financial commitments align with budget and corporate policies.

Payroll, Tax & Compliance Oversight

Oversee coordination of local payroll administration and ensure compliance with Spanish labor and social security regulations.

Manage tax filings and statutory reporting, including VAT and corporate tax remittance and filing requirements. Collaborate with external advisors as required.

Ensure proper documentation and reporting with Agencia Tributaria, Seguridad Social, and other regulatory bodies.

Support preparation for statutory audits and corporate audit requirements

ERP & Financial Systems Leadership





Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for ERP systems and financial tools, including Oracle NetSuite or equivalent platforms.

Ensure accurate system configuration for:

General ledger

Financial reporting

Multi-entity consolidation

Intercompany transactions

Lead initiatives to improve financial processes, reporting automation, and system efficiency.

Support implementation of finance systems and integrations across the organization as necessary.

Process Improvement & Strategic Finance Projects

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, internal controls, and reporting accuracy.

Lead or support finance transformation initiatives, ERP enhancements, and operational finance projects.

Collaborate with corporate teams to ensure standardization of finance processes across global entities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience

Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP (Plan General Contable – PGC)

Experience working with IFRS reporting environments

Proven experience managing month-end and quarter-end close

Experience managing AP/AR processes and financial operations

Experience working in multi-entity and multi-currency environments

Strong ERP experience (Oracle NetSuite preferred)

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools

Experience managing finance teams or supervising accounting staff

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across international teams

Fluent Spanish and English (required)

PREFERRED / ASSETS

Experience working in publicly traded companies or organizations with consolidated reporting

Experience reporting to international corporate headquarters

Exposure to audit processes and external auditors

Experience in media, esports, gaming, marketing, entertainment, or digital content industries

Experience working in high-growth or fast-paced international organizations

Knowledge of tools such as NetSuite, Microsoft Teams, DEEL, HUMI, or other HR/payroll systems
