Senior BESS Asset Manager

Salary : Up to €100,000 (Dependent on experience)

Location: Remote within Spain (with occasional travel)

About the Opportunity

Piper Maddox is exclusively supporting a general BESS developer in the search for a Senior BESS Asset Manager to support the launch of its first utility-scale battery energy storage assets in Spain.

With an established pipeline of 2GW+ of BESS projects across Spain , this is a key strategic hire.

You'll take ownership of preparing the asset management function ahead of energisation, ensuring assets are fully compliant, registered and commercially ready to maximise performance from day one. You'll also work closely with European teams as the platform continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead operational readiness for utility-scale BESS assets ahead of commercial operation.
- Own asset registration, regulatory compliance and communication with Red Eléctrica (REE) and other market authorities.
- Work with route-to-market providers and optimisers to maximise asset performance and revenue.
- Monitor operational performance through SCADA/EMS platforms and coordinate corrective actions where required.
- Manage warranties, service providers and operational contracts throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Stay up to date with Spanish electricity market developments ,



including ancillary services, balancing mechanisms and regulation.
- Support commissioning, software integration and handover to operations.
- Review budgets, invoices and operational reporting across the Spanish portfolio.

Key Skills

- Experience bringing renewable energy assets into operation in Spain , including asset registration, regulatory compliance and stakeholder management with Red Eléctrica (REE) .
- Strong commercial understanding of the Spanish electricity market , ancillary services, balancing mechanisms and optimiser relationships.
- Experience managing utility-scale renewable assets (BESS preferred, Solar or Wind also considered ).
- Familiarity with SCADA, EMS or asset monitoring platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work across technical, commercial and regulatory teams.
- Fluent Spanish and English.
