Jefe de Obra – Construcción de Data Center
An established data center company operating across the Iberian Peninsula is seeking a Jefe de Obra to lead construction delivery of new data center sites in Spain and Portugal.
As a leader in data centers of southern Europe, the company is actively driving the development of next-generation digital infrastructure, combining innovation, sustainability, and large-scale urban development expertise.
The role focuses on the end-to-end physical development of data center sites, from land preparation and early-stage planning through to civil works, urbanisation, and building delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring sites are technically and administratively prepared for construction and successfully delivered in line with programme, budget, and regulatory requirements.
This position is suited to an experienced construction site professional with a strong track record in major construction projects in Spain, particularly across civil works, urban development, or infrastructure-led builds.
Responsibilities
Oversee early-stage site preparation works, including enabling works and infrastructure readiness
Manage the execution of civil works, urbanisation, and building construction for data center developments
Coordinate all project stakeholders including contractors, designers, technical advisors, and engineering consultants
Liaise with planning authorities, utilities, and external stakeholders during permitting and development stages
Ensure compliance with local planning, permitting,
and construction regulations throughout the project lifecycle
Direct Trades: Coordinate daily schedules for subcontractors, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) crews.
Logistics Management: Oversee the delivery, storage, and installation of high-value, long-lead equipment (e.g., chillers, generators, UPS systems).
Resource Allocation: Manage on-site labour, materials, and equipment to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Milestone Tracking: Monitor daily progress against the master construction schedule to prevent delays.
Budget Oversight: Review field expenses, verify subcontractor invoices, and manage site-level change orders.
Progress Reporting: Generate daily and weekly site reports for the Project Manager and stakeholders.
Requirements
10+ years in civil works, construction delivery, or infrastructure development projects
Proven experience delivering large-scale building or urban development projects in Spain
Strong understanding of permitting, planning processes, and land development procedures
Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders including contractors, designers, and technical consultants
Strong organisational and project management capabilities across complex build programmes
Good balance of technical knowledge and administrative/project coordination skills
Hands-on, delivery-focused mindset with ability to manage execution on site
Degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, or related field) or Architecture
Experience with land development, planning, or “brownfield/greenfield” site preparation highly desirable
Fluent Spanish & English
