As Associate Director - Tu0026amp;D Protection u0026amp; Control Substations, you will lead design and review of protection and control systems for HV substations and oversee engineering teams delivering secondary systems. You will drive protection philosophies, coordination studies, and integration with SCADA and primary equipment from concept to commissioning. You will mentor engineers, coordinate across multidisciplinary teams, and support clients to deliver safe, reliable substations. This role offers impact across major HV projects within a general infrastructure leader, with opportunities to shape engineering standards and delivery.

• Lead design and engineering of protection and control systems for HV substations (protection schemes, control systems, substation automation)
• Define protection philosophies, control architectures, and communication interfaces per project requirements and standards
• Review and produce detailed secondary engineering deliverables (schematics, interlocking diagrams, relay settings philosophy)
• Perform or review protection coordination studies and relay settings for proper selectivity and fault clearance
• Ensure integration of protection systems with SCADA interfaces, communication networks, and primary equipment
• Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning (relay settings, logic implementation, functional testing)
• Mentor protection and control teams, support professional development




• Coordinate engineering activities across primary, civil, system studies, and commissioning teams to enable multidisciplinary integration
• Interface with clients, PMs, contractors, and vendors to ensure technical alignment and delivery
• Develop technical procedures, standards, and best practices within the organization

Responsabilidades
• Typically 12-15+ years of experience in protection and control engineering for HV substations
• Proven experience delivering secondary systems across concept, design, and commissioning phases
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring within engineering teams
• Strong expertise in protection and control system design for HV substations (line, transformer, busbar, feeder)
• Substation automation and SCADA integration
• Protection coordination and relay settings philosophy
• Control logic, interlocking schemes, and communication networks
• Integration of protection systems with primary equipment and system studies
• Experience with AutoCAD and protection relay configuration tools
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent preferred (Nice to Have)
• Exposure to IEC 61850 and protection philosophies (Nice to Have)
• Experience with ABB, GE, Siemens, or SEL relays (Nice to Have)
• Commissioning and field testing experience (Nice to Have)
