Do you think in watts as well as colourways? We are looking for a designer who does. There is a development team, a ProtoLab and a wind tunnel waiting in Tessenderlo-Ham.

Why we are opening this role?

We are not looking for someone to make our products look better. We are looking for someone to make them work better and look like nothing else on the road while doing it. That means a designer who is as comfortable in a fitting session as in Illustrator. Who can argue about elongation values and about colour in the same meeting. Who understands that a beautiful design that a factory cannot reproduce is not a design.

If that sounds like the job you have been waiting for, keep reading.

What you'll do

- Set the direction.

Turn brand strategy, rider feedback, and market insight into product concepts. Build the mood boards, the palettes, the sketches, the design story. Define what each product is for and who it is for.

- Build the range.

Design cohesive seasonal collections across jerseys, bibs, jackets, and accessories. Hold the line on design language, colour, and detailing from Epic to Speedwear Concept to Tempest. Spot the gaps nobody has filled yet.

- Design for performance.

Aerodynamics. Thermoregulation. Moisture management. Compression. Freedom of movement. Weight. Durability.

Every one of them a design decision. Every one of them measurable.

You will design for the position on the bike, not for the hanger.

- Engineer the fabric and the fit.

Source technical textiles with our sourcing team and mill partners. Match elongation, recovery, and stability to the job the garment has to do. Bonded seams. Flatlock. Taping. Laser cutting. Ultrasonic bonding. Seamless.

Then sit with our pattern makers until the fit is right. Prove it, then refine it. Design. Prototype. Test. Evaluate. Refine. Repeat.

Fitting sessions, field testing, ProtoLab, and wind tunnel validation. Riders will tell you what is wrong with your prototype. You will want them to.

- Make it manufacturable.

Design to target cost and price architecture. Understand what our production locations can and cannot do. Protect the original intent when the constraints arrive, because they always do.

You will work daily with Product Development, Pattern Making, Sourcing, Quality, Graphic Design, Marketing and Production. You will become the technical design reference for the whole product creation process.

What you bring

Essential

- Three to five years or more in technical sportswear, performance apparel or a closely related field.
- A portfolio showing products from first concept through prototype to finished garment.
- Strong understanding of garment construction and advanced construction methods, bonded seams, flatlock, taping, laser cutting, ultrasonic bonding, seamless, and membranes.
- Working knowledge of fabric elongation, stretch, recovery, and compression, and what each does to fit.
- A feel for body mapping, anatomy, and athletic movement.

- Expert-level Adobe Illustrator for flats and technical drawings, and strong across the rest of Creative Cloud.
- Willingness to learn our internal 3D prototyping tools.
- The judgement to design within target cost, quality, and manufacturing constraints.
- Excellent English, written and spoken, Dutch is a plus
- A genuine passion for cycling and performance sport.

Valued

- Direct experience in cycling apparel.
- Experience with performance-oriented products and technical textiles.
- CLO3D or comparable 3D apparel software.
- Curiosity about new materials, processes, and manufacturing technologies.
- You do not have to race. You do have to care what happens at 45 km/h in the rain.

What we offer

- A good place to work. A close-knit product team, a ProtoLab down the corridor, and athletes you can actually talk to about what they need.
- Sport in the building. Colleagues who ride, race, and argue about millimetres. Customers who do the same. The love of the sport is shared daily, in both directions.
- Stability and growth. A full-time permanent contract.
- Pay. A market-rate salary, matched to your experience and skills.
- Location. An easily accessible office in the Tessenderlo-Ham region.

Why Bioracer

Raymond Vanstraelen founded us in 1986 on one rule: The Most Tested. So your patterns go to the ProtoLab, then the Flemish cobbles. What holds up ends on Olympic champions and on riders racing their mates on a Sunday.

Forty years in. Still accelerating.
