Job Description
An opportunity for a Junior Aerodynamics Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Aerodynamics Department within the Flight Physics Centre of Competence in Engineering. The team is responsible for the aerodynamic development of Airbus Defence & Space aircrafts through computational fluid dynamics, external shape design, and experimental campaigns. Operating within a multidisciplinary environment, team members collaborate closely with specialists from international partner organizations. The jobholder will reinforce our Flight Physics division to help deliver complex aerodynamic models, performance data, and handling quality assessments across program lifecycles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design air vehicle external shapes and deliver comprehensive aerodynamic models, performance data, handling qualities, and loads in steady/unsteady modes.
Ensure optimized aerodynamic solutions and data are delivered to internal and external customers adhering to Time, Cost, and Quality (TCQ) objectives.
Develop and maintain specialized technologies, methods, prediction tools, and technical competencies to meet program specifications.
Contribute to achieving vehicle project aerodynamics and flight performance requirements across all major component and system integration phases.
Establish technical linkages with external research communities in aerodynamics and multidisciplinary air vehicle design/optimization.
Interface continuously with adjacent flight physics disciplines, including structures, loads, stability & control, and mass properties.
SKILLS
Education: Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Experience: No prior experience in Aerodynamics is required.
Soft skills: High adaptability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary, and international networking environment.
Languages: Advanced level in Spanish & English (both written & spoken).
Technical knowledge:
Foundational knowledge of aerospace engineering principles and numerical/computational methods.
Valuable / Nice to have:
A PhD level in Aerospace Engineering will be valuable.
Any experience in aerodynamic design and characterization, numerical aerodynamic prediction tools, wind tunnel tests, CAD tools, or Matlab/Python scripting will be valuable.
Intermediate/Advanced German and/or French will also be valued.
