AI Governance Research Scientist

RiskOnyx is building an AI-native governance platform that helps organisations govern AI systems, models and autonomous AI agents.

We are looking for a PhD-level researcher to join our R&D; team and help develop the intelligence layer behind the platform.

What you will work on

- AI governance, responsible and trustworthy AI
- EU AI Act and emerging AI regulation
- AI risk and impact assessment
- Governance of AI systems and autonomous agents
- Regulatory and policy interpretation
- Converting regulations into structured, software-enforceable requirements
- AI governance ontologies, knowledge models and regulatory intelligence
- Using AI/LLMs to automate governance processes
- Developing research prototypes with our product and engineering teams

We are looking for
- PhD in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, AI Governance, Responsible AI, AI Ethics, Technology Regulation, Law & Technology, Information Systems or related field
- Demonstrable research experience in AI governance, responsible/trustworthy AI,



AI regulation, AI ethics or AI risk
- Strong research and analytical capabilities
- Ability to turn research into practical methodologies and technology
- Experience with AI/ML or generative AI is valuable
- Python/software development experience is valuable
- Publications, research projects or industry R&D; experience are valuable

You will have the opportunity to take research from academic concept → methodology → prototype → commercial product , while contributing to research, intellectual property and thought leadership.

Location: Spain

Working model: Hybrid, remote + regular in-person collaboration.
