Polar Coatings is looking for a skilled and creative Video Editor to support the growth of its YouTube channel and social media presence.

The editor will transform raw footage provided by the team into engaging long-form YouTube videos. They will also repurpose each YouTube video into Reels and YouTube Shorts.

This is an editing-focused role. Filming, content strategy, copywriting, publishing and community management will be managed separately.

The Role

You will edit long-form YouTube videos for Polar Coatings and its associated channels. From each finished YouTube video, you will identify and edit the strongest moments into multiple vertical videos for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

The content combines education, product demonstrations, real projects, storytelling, entertainment and behind-the-scenes moments. The idóneo candidate understands how to create engaging edits that capture attention, maintain viewer interest and feel native to each platform.

You will work closely with the Polar Coatings team, who will provide briefs, objectives, platform requirements and feedback.

Key Responsibilities

- Edit complete long-form YouTube videos from raw footage.
- Review each YouTube video and identify its strongest moments, lessons, stories and soundbites.
- Repurpose every long-form YouTube video into multiple Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
- Ensure short-form videos work as standalone pieces and do not feel like random extracts.
- Create strong hooks for the opening seconds of every Reel and Short.
- Reorganise or tighten footage when necessary to improve pacing and retention.
- Adapt videos from horizontal YouTube format to vertical 9:16 format.
- Reframe speakers and important visual elements correctly for vertical viewing.
- Add accurate subtitles, on-screen text, graphics, transitions, sound effects and music when required.
- Perform basic colour correction,



audio clean-up and sound mixing.
- Create alternative hooks or versions when required for testing.
- Follow the creative direction established for each Polar Coatings channel.
- Export every video according to the technical requirements of its platform.
- Organise project files, exports and reusable footage clearly.
- Deliver projects within the agreed timelines.
- Respond constructively to feedback and complete revisions efficiently.
- Use watch time and retention insights to improve future editing decisions.

Content Deliverables For each main YouTube video, the editor will generally be expected to deliver:
- One complete long-form YouTube video.
- Multiple vertical Instagram Reels.
- Multiple vertical YouTube Shorts.
- Clean, platform-ready versions with subtitles and on-screen text.
- Alternative hooks or shorter versions when required.

The exact number of Reels and Shorts will depend on the length and quality of the source footage. However, the editor should actively look for every strong short-form opportunity within each YouTube video instead of waiting for individual timestamps to be provided. Additional short-form content may also be created from unused footage captured during the same filming day.

Essential Skills and Experience

- Proven experience editing long-form YouTube videos.
- Proven experience editing Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
- Strong understanding of pacing, storytelling, hooks and audience retention.
- Ability to identify short-form content opportunities within longer videos.




- Ability to turn an extract into a complete standalone story with a clear beginning, value and conclusion.
- Experience adapting horizontal footage into effective vertical edits.
- Experience creating accurate, visually clear subtitles.
- Good knowledge of YouTube, Instagram and short-form platform conventions.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in audio, text and visual continuity.
- Ability to follow briefs and apply feedback consistently.
- Excellent file organisation and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
- A reliable internet connection and the ability to transfer large video files.

Desirable Experience
- Experience editing product-led, construction, coatings, home-improvement, trade or DIY content.
- Experience working with founder-led or personality-led channels.
- Basic motion graphics skills.
- Experience with multicamera editing.
- Knowledge of YouTube Analytics, watch time and audience-retention metrics.
- Ability to create reusable editing templates and efficient workflows.
