Monitoring Engineer – Platform Engineering

We are looking for a Monitoring Engineer to develop, administer and continuously improve the platforms that provide visibility across complex infrastructure and cloud environments.

This position focuses on monitoring platform engineering and ownership , rather than traditional NOC or first-line alert response.

What you will do

- Deploy, configure and maintain enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.
- Onboard new infrastructure, applications and services into the monitoring ecosystem.
- Configure agents, collectors, proxies, forwarders, templates, custom checks, discovery rules and dashboards.
- Design and tune alerts, thresholds and event correlation to reduce false positives and alert fatigue.
- Integrate monitoring platforms with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow to automate ticket creation and escalation workflows.
- Develop integrations and automation using APIs, webhooks and scripting.
- Perform platform upgrades, patching, capacity planning and performance optimisation.
- Maintain platform availability, security, resilience and disaster recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot complex platform issues and perform root-cause analysis.





What we are looking for

- Production experience administering and maintaining monitoring or observability platforms, rather than only responding to their alerts.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Zabbix, Nagios/OMD, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Centreon, LogicMonitor or similar.
- Experience creating templates, custom checks, alerts, dashboards and integrations.
- Understanding of monitoring architecture, agents, collectors, data ingestion and platform dependencies.
- Experience integrating monitoring with ITSM or ticketing workflows.
- Scripting or automation experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash or Ansible.
- Good knowledge of Windows and Linux infrastructure and core networking concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Professional English and confidence working with international and UK-based teams.
