Offer Description

We offer a PhD contract. The selected candidate will undertake a PhD research project within the framework of the project “Understanding and Inducing Arterialization from Sprouting Endothelial Tip Cells, acronym: Tip-Arteries” (Grant No. PID OB-I00), specifically contributing to the implementation of Objectives 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3.

The duties and responsibilities will include:

Performing multimodal single-cell analyses to investigate the genetic and epigenetic regulation of endothelial cell-derived tip cells, conducting spatial transcriptomics analyses of tip cells undergoing arterialization and comparing the transcriptomic, epigenetic, and signaling changes that occur following genetic and biophysical perturbation of the arterialization process.

This predoctoral researcher training grant (FPI), reference PREP , is associated with the project “Understanding and Inducing Arterialization from Sprouting Endothelial Tip Cells, acronym: Tip-Arteries” ( Grant No. PID OB-I00 ), awarded to Rui Benedito under the “Proyectos de Generación del Conocimiento 2023. Ministerio de Ciencia,Innovación y Universidades” call, funded by MICIU/AEI / / and by the FSE+

- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Health Sciences, or closely related disciplines.
- A Master's degree in Life Sciences, Health Sciences, or a closely related discipline must have been completed by the date of appointment (contract commencement).
- Candidates must be admitted to, a doctoral (PhD) programme by the date of contract formalization.
- Candidates must not have exceeded the maximum duration of four years of predoctoral employment contracts provided for under Article 21 of the Spanish Ley Ciencia.
- Candidates must not be in possession of a doctoral (PhD) degree awarded by a Spanish or international university.

C1. Scientific and Technical Contributions. The candidate’s academic record and other curricular merits will be assessed, including, but not limited to, awards, authorship of research articles and/or review papers published in indexed scientific journals, conference presentations,



and related achievements. Consideration will also be given to the relevance of these merits to the duties of the position, taking into account the candidate’s educational background and professional experience.

C2. Mobility and Internationalization. The relevance and impact of the candidate’s research stays at national and international institutions and/or within the industrial sector will be assessed. Particular consideration will be given to the prestige of the host institution and the activities carried out during the placement, as well as their contribution to the candidate’s research career development.

Selection process

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, sets forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (“concurso”), the competition (“concurso-oposición”) must be the recruitment system”.

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (“concurso”) including a personal interview.

At least the three highest-scoring candidates will be invited for an interview, provided that they achieve a minimum total score of 55 points across the evaluable criteria (C1-C5). The candidate with the highest overall score will be offered the position, provided that they obtain a minimum total score of 70 points (C1-C6).
