About the Role
As a Platform / Pipeline Engineer at Xebia, you will join our Engineering team supporting the development and enablement of cloud-based data and analytical pipelines. You will work at the intersection of platform engineering, software development and computational biology, helping teams build, standardize and troubleshoot reliable analytical workflows.
This role is idóneo for a hands-on engineer with strong Python and Google Cloud Platform experience who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working closely with scientific and technical stakeholders. Exposure to bioinformatics, omics data, workflow orchestration or AI-assisted development is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Develop, standardize and maintain analytical and data pipelines in a cloud environment.
- Design and implement reusable pipeline patterns, standards and development practices.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve pipeline and platform-level issues, supporting root-cause analysis and remediation.
- Develop production-quality Python code, including testing, debugging and code review.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of AI/ML-assisted pipeline development processes.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists and other technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Contribute to technical documentation, reusable components and engineering best practices.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, data engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including production-quality development, testing and code review practices.
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Practical experience developing, debugging and troubleshooting analytical or data pipelines in a cloud environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate directly with technical and scientific stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a distributed engineering team.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with bioinformatics, computational biology or omics data.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Nextflow.
- Experience with AI/LLM-assisted software development or code generation tools.
- Experience working with scientific or data-intensive applications.
- Familiarity with pipeline standardization, reusable workflow patterns and engineering best practices.

- Salary Range: €66,000 – €74,000 gross per year, depending on experience, skills, and the outcome of the technical assessment process.
