About the Role

A leading organization in the retail industry is looking for an experienced Senior Data Business Analyst to act as the key bridge between business stakeholders and Data Engineering teams.

You will translate business needs into robust data solutions, ensuring that reporting, data warehouse and analytics solutions are functionally accurate, properly tested and aligned with the wider data strategy.

The position combines strong Business Analysis, SQL, Data Warehousing and Data Modelling expertise.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate business requirements into detailed data requirements, including data mappings, transformation rules and KPI definitions.
- Collaborate with Data Architects and technical teams to design conceptual and logical data models.
- Use SQL to profile source data, validate business rules and perform data quality assessments.
- Produce clear Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and Functional Specifications covering data lineage and Data Warehouse integration.
- Lead root cause analysis for data discrepancies, quality issues and pipeline failures.
- Define and execute test plans and UAT, ensuring warehouse data accurately reflects agreed business rules.
- Contribute to Data Governance through data dictionaries, metadata and knowledge documentation.




- Work closely with business stakeholders, Data Engineers and Data Architects throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, data analysis and data profiling.
- Solid experience with Data Warehouses, including Star/Snowflake schemas and ETL processes.
- Strong understanding of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling.
- Experience translating business requirements into data mappings and transformation logic.
- Strong experience writing BRDs and Functional Specifications.
- Experience with data quality, testing and UAT.
- Good understanding of data lineage, metadata and Data Governance.

Strong Plus

- SAP BW, including InfoCubes, DSOs and BEx Queries.
- Experience with SAP functional data extraction.
- Previous experience within the retail industry or service management environments.

Profile

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management, Economics, Applied Sciences, IT or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience as a Data Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Functional Data Analyst or similar role.
- Comfortable working between business and technical/data teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in consulting or a similar operational environment is an advantage.
