About the Organisation
We are a privately backed, long-term European holding company building controlling or co-controlling positions in established, cash-generative businesses with the ambition to scale them into category leaders across Europe. Capital is provided by family offices, entrepreneurs and long-horizon institutional investors. There is no conventional closed-end fund structure and no predetermined exit timetable.
The investment approach is deliberately concentrated and research-intensive. Markets are studied in depth before capital is committed. Once conviction is reached, the firm acts with speed and discipline. Target companies typically have a multi-year track record of profitable growth, EBIT in the mid-single to low double-digit million euro range, and operate in structurally fragmented industries with attractive cash conversion.
A defining feature of the model is partnership with incumbent entrepreneurs. Management is expected to remain in operational control and to reinvest a substantial portion of proceeds. Value creation after closing is driven primarily by selected add-on acquisitions and the professionalisation of inorganic growth, rather than by heavy operational intervention in the core business.
The platform is still in an early institutionalisation phase. The investment team is small, senior and highly involved in every stage of the process.
The Opportunity
As Associate, you will work directly with the principals across origination, market mapping, commercial due diligence, transaction execution and post-investment buy-and-build work. The role is broader and more intellectually demanding than a conventional large-fund associate position. You will be expected to form independent views on industries, business quality and entrepreneurial counterparts,
and to produce work that can stand in front of sophisticated private capital providers.
This is a high-exposure role in a compact team. Output quality, judgement and discretion matter more than process volume.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain structured market maps in selected European niches, identifying fragmentation, competitive dynamics, cash-generation characteristics and potential platform candidates.
- Support proprietary origination through research, direct outreach and relationship-building with entrepreneurs, family shareholders and selected advisors.
- Lead or co-lead internal commercial due diligence: long-cycle market development, unit economics, true drivers of profitability, competitor behaviour and the quality of the incumbent management.
- Prepare investment memoranda, financial analyses and valuation work to a standard suitable for family-office and entrepreneurial capital providers.
- Contribute to transaction structuring, with particular attention to alignment mechanisms, rollover equity and governance that keep entrepreneurs in control after closing.
- Support closing workstreams and the first phase of post-investment integration, including identification and screening of add-on opportunities.
- Monitor portfolio companies and prepare concise, high-quality materials for internal discussion and investor reporting.
- Help professionalise internal investment processes as the platform scales, without losing the firm’s direct, founder-centric operating style.
Candidate Profile
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in private equity, principal investing, corporate M&A;, transaction advisory or a high-calibre strategy / corporate development environment.
- Demonstrable analytical depth: able to move from industry structure to company-level economics and to defend a clear investment thesis.
- Strong financial modelling and written communication skills; capable of producing precise, well-argued materials with limited supervision.
- Intellectual curiosity about mid-sized European businesses and comfort engaging directly with entrepreneurs and owner-managers.
- High personal standards, discretion and professional maturity; suitable for a small team that works with private capital and confidential situations.
- Preference for candidates who have seen at least one full transaction cycle and who are motivated by building platforms rather than running standardised fund processes.
- Fluency in English is required. Strong German, French or Dutch is a significant advantage given the Benelux–DACH orientation of the investment activity.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Brussels; regular travel across Western Europe.
What Distinguishes This Mandate
This is not a conventional mid-market PE associate seat inside a large, process-driven fund. The work combines principal investing, industrial research and founder partnership in a long-duration holding model. The successful candidate will be close to decision-making, exposed to sophisticated private capital, and expected to operate with unusual autonomy for the title.
