In this role you will lead the AI operations engineering effort for AstraZeneca’s AI platforms, building and running scalable observability, automation, and AI-augmented tools. You will mentor L1/L2 engineers and drive incident response, post-mortems, and platform enhancements across Azure and AWS. Your work powers an AI-enabled value chain from discovery to patient safety, shaping a data-led, high-reliability environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce toil and accelerate transformational outcomes in pharma tech.

• Design, build and maintain a centralized observability layer with dashboards, alerts, and telemetry pipelines
• Architect and implement AI-augmented operations tooling (conversational runbooks, AI-driven incident analysis)
• Lead complex incident responses and produce actionable post-mortems
• Contribute instrumentation and patches to product engineering codebases for robustness
• Contribute to vendor evaluations for automation tooling
• Build and maintain automation powering the continuous improvement cycle (runbooks, patches)
• Own automation investments prioritized by frequency, resolution time, and blast radius
• Proactively reduce toil and maintain low reactive-work time
• Shape platform operability during development with instrumentation and health checks
• Provide operational input to platform architecture reviews




• Mentor L1/L2 engineers and support engineering capability development
• Prepare and present flywheel metrics for operations reviews
• Foster a culture of engineering-minded SREs focused on operational excellence
• Collaborate with product engineering teams on post-mortems and handover
• Represent operational requirements in design discussions
• Communicate incident findings and risk clearly to leadership
Responsabilidades
• BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science or related quantitative or analytical field
• Significant hands-on SRE/platform operations experience at scale
• Strong expertise in observability platforms (Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, Splunk) and telemetry pipelines
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and structured logging
• Proven automation experience with Python and Bash to build xqbhyrx robust tooling
• Experience assessing platform readiness and performing operational handovers
• Hands-on cloud experience (Azure and/or AWS) including containers, serverless, and managed services
• Experience contributing to post-mortems and turning findings into preventive work
• Ability to implement precise technical solutions with instrumentation, alerts, and automation
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development
