Sherpa Food Tours creates culinary experiences for travelers from all over the world. We were awarded the #1 Food Experience in the World by Tripadvisor in 2024 and 2026, and we run experiences in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Lima, London, Amsterdam, and Cartagena.
We're now building our Barcelona team, starting with a jamón and cava tasting experience, and we're looking for our founding hosts.
The role
You'll host small groups of international guests through a jamón and cava tasting: the regions, the curing, the método tradicional, and the stories that make it all worth caring about.
You're not a guide reciting facts. You're a host running the room.
What you'll do
- Host jamón and cava tasting experiences for small international groups
- Tell the story behind what's on the plate and in the glass, and connect it to the wider food culture guests are here to discover
- Read the room, manage the energy, and make sure every guest leaves feeling like they were let in on something
- Point guests toward what's worth their time elsewhere in Barcelona and toward the rest of their Sherpa itinerary
- Handle dietary requirements and guest questions with confidence
- Work with our partners to keep the experience running smoothly
- Share what you learn so we can make the experience better every month
What we're looking for
Essential
- Professional-level English. Our guests are international, and the experience runs in English
- A genuinely warm, outgoing personality, this role is hosting, not lecturing
- Strong storytelling instincts and comfort holding a room
- Solid knowledge of Barcelona's culinary scene and food culture: we want people who are genuinely well-read on food and drink
- Availability primarily in the afternoons and early evenings:
- Ability to commit to 3-4 sessions per week on a consistent basis
- Legal right to work as a self-employed professional (autónomo) in Spain
