As a Senior Software Engineer on the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team, you will shape the direction and implementation of advanced search capabilities at Scale. You’ll work with a globally distributed team to deliver fast, relevant search experiences and contribute to improvements in Lucene. The role blends feature development, bug fixes, and potential new algorithms, with a strong emphasis on autonomous, collaborative execution. You’ll impact how users find answers across data, leveraging AI to accelerate development and optimize systems.

• Professional experience with search or vector databases at scale

• Experience with asynchronous collaboration and distributed teamwork
• Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
• Track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code while owning outcomes
• Ability to adapt across projects and codebases based on business priorities
• Strong communication and code review abilities
