BUSINESS CONTEXT

The Akkermansia Company operates a nascent supplement and ingredient business, characterized by an agile, startup-style organizational model. Following its acquisition by Danone in June 2025, the company was intentionally maintained as a standalone entity to preserve operational flexibility and accelerate growth. As finance is one of the selected areas required to fully align with Danone’s rigorous standards and reporting cycles, there is an immediate need for a robust transformation of the finance function to meet enhanced expectations for reporting timeliness and quality

The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading the transformation of the finance function, driving its alignment with Danone’s best practices and standards. This role is critical for establishing strong financial operations, ensuring compliance, and employee services—ultimately enabling the company’s strategic ambitions, safeguarding financial integrity, and fostering a positive employee experience. Given the company’s startup environment and ambitious growth trajectory the finance department must maintain rigorous processes and accurate reporting while remaining agile and adaptable to effectively support a rapidly expanding business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Building, Automation & Service Excellence

- Design, implement, and continuously improve finance, treasury, tax, and employee service processes leveraging the best Danone practices to ensure efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
- Lead automation initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce manual tasks, and enhance data accuracy (e.g., leveraging ERP systems, digital tools, and process automation platforms).
- Promote service excellence mindset by establishing clear service standards, monitoring performance KPIs, and driving continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to identify and deploy digital solutions that support business objectives and operational excellence.
- Maintain process documentation, governance frameworks, and ensure alignment with Danone’s standards and best practices.




- Drive continuous improvement, performance KPIs, and issue tracking.

Finance & Accounting

- Lead end-to-end Record to Report processes according to IFRS (DAM), Belgium GAAP and US GAAP standards
- Manage inventory and warehouse accounting, including cost reporting, stock counts, and reconciliation with external warehouses
- Oversee CAPEX and fixed assets accounting, including depreciation, inventory review, disposal, and impairment
- Ensure timely and accurate period-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, FX revaluation, account justification, and reconciliation
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, statutory filings, and regulatory reports
- Manage intercompany recharges and reconciliations
- Develop and perform standard and ad-hoc financial reporting

Treasury & Cash Management

- Manage payment processes, cash movement recording, and bank reconciliation
- Define treasury positions and perform pooling activities
- Control & Forecast financial costs

Tax

- Oversee the forecasting and reporting of tax financial impact, ensuring advisors provide timely and accurate input.
- Lead tax planning and compliance activities, including preparation of tax returns, calculation of deferred taxes, and monitoring compliance.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive Tax Compliance Calendar to ensure all tax reporting obligations and deadlines are proactively managed and met.
- Take ownership of addressing tax inquiries and audits.
- Ensure full compliance with transfer pricing policies, including the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of transfer pricing activities

Employee Services

- Oversee workforce administration, payroll management, and employee requests.




- Manage HR master data and self-service capabilities.
- Administer HR systems and strategy, including reporting and analysis.

Process Governance & Continuous Improvement

- Maintain accounting standards, disclosure management, and transfer pricing policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

· Minimum 6 years of experience in finance supporting functions (Financial Control, Treasury, Accounting).

· Experience in international environments and cross-functional teams.

· Demonstrated track record in financial operations, reporting, and compliance.

· Proficiency in English and French languages

· Experience with ERP systems; Netsuite, Odoo experience is a plus

· Experience in other digital finance automation tools (Power Automate, Power BI, etc.).
