JOIN OUR TEAM AS A: V&V; Engineer
Reporting to the Verification & Validation Director, you provide independent Verification and Validation across every step of product and project development within The Signalling Company, in line with the CENELEC railway RAMS and safety standards (EN 50126, EN 50716, EN 50129). As such:
For verification:
• You check the completeness, consistency, correctness, relevance and traceability of the documented evidence produced in each life cycle phase (requirements, design, hazard analyses, safety-related application conditions) against the requirements of the preceding phase
• You verify that deliverables of each phase comply with the deliverables of former phases and with the requirements of the applicable standard.
• You evaluate the adequacy of the methods, tools and techniques used within each life cycle phase.
• You identify anomalies and non-conformances, and record and communicate them to the relevant change management body for decision.
• Produce and maintain Verification Reports recording the identity/configuration of items verified, non-conformities,
deviations from the verification plan, and a summary of results.
For Validation:
• You develop a working understanding of the system's / software's intended behaviour within its operational environment.
• You develop the Validation Plan: scope, objectives, strategy and activities for each relevant life cycle phase, and agree it with the Independent Safety Assessor where required.
• You review the specified requirements against the intended use/environment to confirm they have been properly and completely specified.
• You review the evidence produced by development, verification and test activities — without personally designing or executing tests — to confirm the system/software fulfils all of its requirements.
• You evaluate the conformity of the development process and of the resulting product against the requirements of the applicable standard.
• You review the completeness, correctness, consistency and adequacy of the verification (and test) evidence produced by others, including checking that test cases and executed tests are adequate — as a documentary/evidence review, not as test execution.
• You review and audit that design concepts are not compromised by manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance and operational processes; review safety-related application conditions and precautions.
• You review, classify and record deviations/non-conformities by risk and submit them to the body responsible for change management and decision-making.
• You produce the Validation Report: conclude on completeness of requirement tracing, record and justify deviations, and state whether the system/software is fit for its intended use in its defined environment
• You give a formal recommendation — agreement or disagreement — on the release of the system/software, including any application constraints
Profile
• You have a degree in engineering or any type of technical studies (university degree).
• Structured reasoning and organization are 2 perfect words to define your way of thinking and working.
• You have 3+ years’ experience in verification and/or validation activities.
• You are familiar with the requirements for developing critical products, ideally in railway, and have participated in such development, as Verifier and/or Validator.
• You ideally have experience with agile development techniques, such as - but not limited to - TDD, CI/CD, SCM using Git, etc.
• You took part in the development of real-time distributed systems, preferably in railway, automotive or aerospace industry, as Verifier and/or Validator.
• You have a sound knowledge of CENELEC railway RAMS and safety standards (EN 50126, EN 50716, EN 50129) and of their Verification & Validation requirements.
• You are able to work with the autonomy needed to reach an independent judgement on the completeness, adequacy and fulfilment of requirements, free from commercial or peer pressure.
• You revere accuracy, whatever the task considered may be, but show the flexibility to understand other persons’ points of view.
• You are a team player. You admit that you can be wrong when a team member has a better idea.
• Fluency English is required. Knowledge of any other European language is a plus, especially French
