We are partnering with a leading general producer of critical materials to appoint a Business Intelligence & Strategic Insights Manager based in Madrid.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this person will lead the transformation of the company’s Market Intelligence function into an integrated Business Intelligence capability, combining market insights, internal data and AI-enabled workflows to support commercial and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities

- Define and execute the roadmap for transforming Market Intelligence into an integrated Business Intelligence function.
- Establish clear priorities, governance, ways of working and an effective service model for business stakeholders.
- Connect market developments, customer needs, product choices and commercial priorities through a structured insight-to-action process.
- Develop executive-level scenarios, decision models and concise recommendations for senior leadership.
- Produce forward-looking intelligence covering demand, pricing, trade flows, competition, customers, capacity, supply and product performance.
- Combine internal commercial and operational data with reliable external sources in a scalable data model.
- Develop trusted dashboards, forecasting models, sensitivity analyses and early-warning indicators.
- Establish standards for data quality, ownership, definitions, traceability and refresh frequency.
- Identify and implement valuable AI use cases across research, monitoring, synthesis, modelling and decision support.
- Build or help develop reusable AI agents and automated intelligence workflows, with appropriate controls for accuracy, security, confidentiality and human review.
- Embed Business Intelligence into recurring processes such as strategy reviews, product reviews, forecasting, commercial planning and executive meetings.




- Measure the function’s success through adoption, decision impact, cycle time, forecast accuracy and business value delivered.

What we are looking for

- Experience in business intelligence, commercial analytics, strategy, market intelligence, data science or a related field.
- Experience within an industrial, materials, metals, chemicals, energy or international B2B environment is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to transform or significantly improve an analytics or intelligence capability.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, visualisation, forecasting and scenario analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI or comparable business intelligence tools.
- Practical experience using modern AI tools and agent-based workflows in a business environment. Experience building AI agents or automated analytical workflows is particularly valuable.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to connect analysis with revenue, margin, cash, portfolio and customer value.
- Experience creating executive dashboards, decision models and clear senior-management communications.
- Confidence working across business and technical teams, functions, countries and seniority levels.
- Fluent English. Spanish or French would be an advantage.
- A degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics or a related discipline.
