Job Title: Obsolescence Engineer

At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.

More than a job: a mission

We're looking for an Obsolescence Engineer to support the long-term reliability and sustainability of railway systems. This is a critical role focused on ensuring product availability, managing component obsolescence risks, and developing innovative solutions that keep fleets operating efficiently throughout their lifecycle.

You'll work alongside people who show up with ownership, passion, and dedication - because they know what's at stake: the journey home.

Your role, your impact

Implement and improve obsolescence management strategies within the Services business

Develop and enhance obsolescence management tools, repositories, reporting dashboards and KPIs

Support the creation and maintenance of product and project obsolescence management plans

Perform obsolescence risk assessments and monitor parts at risk throughout their lifecycle

Validate supplier obsolescence management plans and integrate them into project strategies

Manage product structures, bills of materials and parts availability reports within Alstom systems

Support business development and tender activities by proposing alternative technical solutions and assessing associated costs, validation and documentation requirements

You'll work with sharp, committed teams across engineering, services and project management - solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility.

What you bring

University degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

Experience in a similar engineering role or product design environment

Knowledge of obsolescence management processes within industrial sectors

Experience with Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI and SharePoint repositories and tables

Familiarity with SAP and CAD or other design tools is desirable

Advanced Spanish and intermediate English communication skills

Strong analytical mindset, autonomy and stakeholder management abilities

How success is measured

Effective identification and mitigation of obsolescence risks

Quality and timeliness of obsolescence management plans and reports

Accuracy and relevance of alternative solutions proposed to stakeholders

Contribution to dashboard development, KPI monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives

Collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers to support business objectives

Alstom, a great place to grow

Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

Contribute to innovative projects

Utilise our cooperative working environment

Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage

Here, progress isn't always easy - the scale is massive, the tasks are complex - but the impact is real. Because when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects - that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
