NewSoul Gospel Choir, VocalStudio's gospel choir in Barcelona, is opening the search for its next musical director.
We're an international and welcoming choral community, singing in four parts (SATB), with a repertoire of gospel, soul, R&B; and funk, vocal training built into every rehearsal, and a life of live performance.
We're looking for someone who:
Can sing and lead the choir with solid technical command in gospel, soul and R&B.;
Has proven specialisation in gospel and related styles (soul, R&B;, funk): demonstrable training and experience directing or singing within this tradition. This is a core requirement, not a plus.
Writes their own arrangements, both vocal and instrumental.
Plays piano.
Has full command of English, CEFR C2 (or equivalent): it's the working language of the choir and its repertoire.
Brings a dynamic profile, able to promote the choir and attract and retain members.
Commitment and format:
In-person rehearsal on Mondays, 20:15–22:00, in Barcelona (Sala Falstaff), plus preparation.
Three concerts a year (around mid-December, mid-April and mid-July).
Terms: part-time employment contract, with a fixed salary plus a variable component tied to the choir's growth. Fee details are discussed at interview. Immediate start.
