Offer Description

The Concrete, Sustainability and Smart Structures ( ) group at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC BarcelonaTech) is seeking candidates to apply for anFPU 2026 predoctoral fellowship .

C3S works at the intersection of construction and digitalization: optimization of construction processes, new and alternative cementitious materials, sensor-based monitoring of concrete performance, and sustainability assessment of infrastructure. The group is involved in national projects and in large-scale European projects, working with both academic and industrial partners in Barcelona.

What we are looking for:





The selected candidate will develop their thesis within one of the following four research lines:

- Early-age microcracking: monitoring and sensor development
- AI-driven management of sustainable concrete
- Digital twins of construction sites and information management
- Mathematical models for infrastructure impact and infrastructure economics
- You must be able to identify yourself with aSpanish DNI , aNIE with IXESP number (physical TIE card), or aNIE with an EU citizen registration certificate . A NIE number without a physical card is not accepted.If you do not already hold one of these, please do not apply to this call.
- MSc completed, or currently enrolled in an official master's giving access to a doctoral programme. You do not need to be enrolled in the PhD programme yet.

Requirements

- Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics (line 4) or related.
- Strong academic record — the academic record is the decisive criterion in this call. Realistically,≥8.5/10 on the Spanish scale .
- Official academic transcripts (BSc and MSc)
- Spanish grade equivalence declaration — one per degree and one per MSc (see note)
