Amentum, a integral leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief of Prevention to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
- Leading and managing the Fire Prevention section, ensuring compliance with all applicable fire prevention standards and codes, including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations.
- Developing, administering, and promoting fire prevention, protection, and public safety education programs to ensure the safety of personnel and mitigate risks.
- Leading inspection programs to ensure facilities, equipment, and operations are compliant with fire safety requirements.
- Reviewing and providing input on construction designs, building plans, and system installations to ensure compliance with fire codes and life safety standards.




- Conducting fire hazard assessments and recommending corrective actions or mitigation plans to address identified risks.
- Managing fire investigations to determine the cause of fires and utilizing findings to strengthen prevention programs.
- Supervising a multi-national team of fire inspectors, providing guidance, training, scheduling, and performance management as necessary.
- Ensuring operational readiness of all inspection, investigation, and prevention programs to meet mission-critical needs.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate reports and records on fire inspections, investigations, findings, and corrective actions.
- Serving as a critical point of liaison between the fire department, external agencies, and other stakeholder groups regarding fire prevention matters.

Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of three years of experience leading an F&ES; fire prevention section or division in a fire department of similar size and scope to that of Diego Garcia.
