As Principal Data Engineer at Roche, you shape the data architecture and analytics strategy to enable GenAI and advanced analytics across diagnostic products. You lead technically while aligning with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, compliant data solutions. You’ll drive future-ready data infrastructure, mentor engineers, and ensure data accuracy and availability. This role offers impact on patient outcomes through innovative data-driven approaches and collaboration with architects, PO, and engineers.

• Define and drive the GenAI and emerging technologies strategy across diagnostic products
• Design, implement, and optimize data architectures using AWS for high performance
• Lead data processing workflows with PySpark, SparkSQL, SQL and modern formats like Iceberg and Parquet
• Improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of data infrastructure and AWS usage




• Provide technical direction and mentorship to development teams, enforcing testing and CI/CD standards
• Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into data-driven solutions
• Advocate for data security, governance, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR)
Responsabilidades
• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering with leadership in technical projects
• Expert proficiency in AWS services (S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena, EMR, Step Functions, MWAA)
• Mastery of xqbhyrx Python, SQL, and Spark-based data processing
• Experience with Dimensional Modeling, Data Partitioning, and Terraform-based IaC
• Proven ability to guide architecture decisions and mentor cross-functional teams
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Fluent English; Spanish a plus
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
