THE ROLEAs a Senior Backend Developer at Macadam, you will be at the core of our engineering team, designing and maintaining the server-side infrastructure that powers our app for millions of walkers worldwide. You'll work closely with our mobile, product, and data teams to deliver reliable, high-quality features at scale. WHAT YOU'LL DODesign, build, and maintain robust RESTful APIs and backend services using Nest JS. Architect and optimize data models and queries on Postgre SQL for performance and scalability. Implement and manage Redis caching strategies to ensure responsiveness at scale. Leverage Google Cloud Platform services (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, etc.) to deploy and operate backend infrastructure. Collaborate closely with the React Native mobile team to define and iterate on API contracts. Monitor, debug, and continuously improve backend performance and reliability. Participate actively in agile ceremonies and help shape our technical roadmap.



Leverage AI tools to optimize your workflows WHAT YOU'LL BRING6+ years of experience in backend development, ideally in a product-driven, high-traffic environment. Strong proficiency in Type Script and Node.js. Solid experience with Nest JS framework and its ecosystem (modules, guards, interceptors, etc.). Deep knowledge of Postgre SQL, including indexing, query optimization, and schema design. Hands-on experience with Redis. Experience with Google Cloud Platform services or cloud-native deployment patterns.
