About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Transport Controller to join a logistics organisation in West Flanders. You will play a key role in monitoring and improving the financial and operational performance of the transport operation.

The role combines business and financial controlling with hands-on responsibility for invoicing, vehicle utilisation, fleet management, productivity analysis and management reporting.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor and control the financial performance of the transport operation.
- Manage and analyse transport invoicing, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation, capacity and operational efficiency.
- Take ownership of fuel card management and fuel consumption analysis.
- Support the development and monitoring of financial plans, budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare regular financial and operational reports and KPI dashboards for management.
- Analyse transport productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Monitor key cost drivers across the fleet and transport operation.




- Investigate variances between vigente performance and financial plans.
- Work closely with transport, operations and finance teams to translate operational data into financial insights.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved fleet utilisation and increased productivity.
- Provide management with clear recommendations based on data and analysis.

Your Profile

- Proven experience in transport controlling, business controlling, financial controlling or a similar role within logistics/transport.
- Strong understanding of transport operations and fleet-related costs.
- Experience with invoicing, budgeting, financial planning and reporting.
- Good understanding of vehicle utilisation, fuel costs and productivity KPIs.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Comfortable working with operational and financial data.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills and able to work with both finance and operational stakeholders.
- Fluent Dutch is required.
- Experience within a logistics, transport or fleet environment is highly preferred.
