Summary

We are looking for a Senior Accounts Payable Consultant to support the structuring and improvement of an AP function across the Benelux region. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role requiring someone who can quickly take ownership, structure a newly established AP team of two resources, improve processes and controls, reduce backlog, and strengthen governance. The consultant will work across AP operations, process improvement, reporting, stakeholder management, and team leadership, with a strong focus on SAP / S/4HANA and delivering measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

- Structure and guide two newly onboarded AP resources
- Define priorities, workload allocation, ways of working, and escalation processes
- Oversee end-to-end AP activities including PO, invoicing, payments, and month-end close
- Coordinate with the Shared Service Center to ensure activities are completed accurately and on time
- Manage vendor queries, unmatched invoices, and critical discrepancies
- Perform root cause analysis and implement remediation plans
- Develop and monitor AP reporting and KPIs, including vendor ageing, work items, payables trends, and invoices to be received
- Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements across the AP function




- Work closely with Finance, Procurement, IT, and SSC stakeholders
- Assess current ways of working and help define the future-state operating model
- Develop and update operating procedures and accounting manuals
- Supervise vendor master data and ensure recurring issues are addressed
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, VAT requirements, and group procedures

Requirements

- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8–10+ years of experience across Accounting, Accounts Payable, Audit, or Consultancy
- Strong SAP and S/4HANA expertise
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and end-to-end AP processes
- Proven experience in process structuring, transformation, or continuous improvement
- Strong analytical and project management capability
- Excellent Excel skills
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Able to work hands-on in complex environments and bring structure quickly
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on tangible outcomes and backlog reduction
- Comfortable challenging processes and working with senior stakeholders
- Fluent English and French
