About the Role

Our client is a rapidly growing company operating in the chemical industry, based in Wavre, Belgium, and currently undergoing a significant transformation. As part of this transition, Robert Half is supporting the company in strengthening its accounting team.

We are looking for an experienced General Accountant with strong French and English language skills to oversee the general accounting activities of two entities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the accounts across the client’s subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

- General Accounting: Monitoring accounts, analysing and processing accounting entries for both entities. The accountant will be responsible for overseeing general accounting activities to ensure the accuracy of the accounts.
- VAT Management: Preparing VAT returns and ensuring regulatory compliance. VAT management is a key aspect of this position.
- Cost Accounting: Monitoring and reporting on costs to support strategic financial decision-making. Cost accounting will help optimise cost management.
- Financial Closings: Preparing and carrying out monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.



The accountant will ensure accuracy and rigour throughout the closing process.
- External Audit (an advantage): Participating in external audits to ensure compliance with accounting practices and supporting the team during external audit procedures.

Qualifications

- Minimum 3 years of experience in general ledger (GL) accounting, ideally with experience in cost accounting and financial closings.
- Experience in general accounting is essential.

Required Skills

- Professional proficiency in French and English; German would be an advantage.
- Dynamic, autonomous, and able to integrate quickly into a fast-growing team.
- Experience with external audits would be appreciated and would strengthen the candidate’s ability to support audit processes.

Preferred Skills

- Experience in cost accounting and financial closings.

Pay range and compensation package

Salary: €4500–€5000 gross per month

Contract Details

- Contract type: 6-month temporary contract, followed by a permanent contract (CDI)
- Working arrangements: Remote work possible 2 days per week after the initial training period.
