Position: FMCS (Facilities Monitoring and Control System) Engineer
Location: PowerCo Valencia Battery Cell Factory, Spain
Core Objective
To oversee the full-cycle management of the FMCS—from design review and implementation through commissioning and final acceptance—with the primary goal of ensuring reliable integration between all facility utility systems (HVAC, chillers, compressed air, etc.) and the central control platform.
Key Responsibilities (Summary)
- Review and finalize FMCS architecture, control logic, I/O schedules, alarm strategies, network topology, and redundancy solutions.
- Coordinate integration with cleanroom/dry-room environmental control, AHU/DHU/RAU/RCU units, and all utility systems (chilled water, cooling water, hot water, compressed air, nitrogen, vacuum, water supply/drainage).
- Manage interfaces with dust collection, exhaust treatment, energy metering, fire alarm, power distribution, and UPS systems.
- Liaise with owners, designers, equipment suppliers, and contractors to define system boundaries, control responsibilities, and communication protocols.
- Prepare and review technical documents: architecture diagrams, network topologies, I/O lists, control descriptions, cause-and-effect matrices, alarm schedules, and interface specifications.
- Validate selection and configuration of PLCs, DD Cs, HMI, SCADA, servers, control panels, sensors, actuators, and communication devices.
- Implement and integrate industrial communication protocols: BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, Profinet, etc.
- Participate in software logic validation, graphic reviews, alarm/linkage testing, trending, and historical data verification.
- Organize or participate in FAT, on-site installation inspection, loop testing, SAT, system integration testing, performance testing, and final acceptance.
- Track design changes, technical issues, interface discrepancies,
and on-site rectifications to drive issue closure.
- Support IT/OT network segmentation, user access control, data backup, system recovery, cybersecurity, and remote access solutions; assist with training, handover, and warranty support.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Automation, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC/Architectural Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in FMCS, BMS, SCADA, or industrial automation system design and implementation for large-scale industrial facilities.
- At least one full project experience in battery manufacturing, semiconductor, electronics, pharmaceuticals, data centers, or other high-cleanliness industrial projects. Battery cell factory or dry-room project experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiar with PLC, DDC, SCADA, industrial servers, databases, control networks, and field instrumentation.
- Proficient in mainstream industrial automation or building control platforms; capable of independently reviewing system configurations, analyzing logic, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of instrumentation principles, selection, and commissioning for temperature, humidity, differential pressure, flow, pressure, dew point, particulates, and gas concentration.
- Able to read and review P&IDs;, control schematics, electrical drawings, system architectures, network topologies, and equipment technical documentation.
- Familiar with control logics for cleanrooms,
dry rooms, HVAC, water systems, utility systems, dust collection, and exhaust treatment.
- Competent in preparing and reviewing I/O schedules, control descriptions, alarm matrices, cause-and-effect matrices, and interface documents.
- Strong cross-functional coordination, problem-analysis, on-site management, and technical communication skills.
Language Requirements
- Proficient English required for technical meetings, documentation, email correspondence, and on-site coordination.
- Spanish communication skills are a plus.
- Chinese proficiency for internal technical coordination and project reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with industrial projects in Spain or other EU countries.
- Experience with PowerCo, Volkswagen Group, or European automotive industry projects.
- Experience with battery plant cleanrooms and low-dew-point dry rooms.
- Experience integrating FMCS with MES, EMS, CMMS, fire alarm, power distribution, or other third-party systems.
- Experience with redundant servers, virtualization platforms, industrial databases, or OT cybersecurity implementation.
- Participation in FMCS FAT, SAT, and full-plant integrated commissioning.
- Familiarity with EU CE requirements, Spanish engineering standards, and project documentation management processes.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to relocate and work full-time at the Valencia, Spain project site.
- Must hold valid EU work authorization or be able to cooperate in obtaining a Spanish work permit.
- Able to accommodate project construction, commissioning, and production ramp-up schedules.
- Strong sense of ownership, proactively driving cross-disciplinary interface issue resolution.
- Excellent safety awareness, quality consciousness, and documentation management skills.
