Role Description

IDFL Europe is looking for a Freelance Textile Sustainability & Certification Auditor based in Spain or Portugal to support our growing European operations.

Please note: This is not a financial, accounting, or internal audit position.

We are specifically looking for professionals with experience in textile sustainability certification, chain of custody, environmental compliance, or social compliance auditing.

The auditor will conduct audits and assessments against sustainability and textile certification standards, including:

•⁠ ⁠GOTS (General Organic Textile Standard)

•⁠ ⁠GRS (Global Recycled Standard)

•⁠ ⁠RCS (Recycled Claim Standard)

•⁠ ⁠OCS (Organic Content Standard)

•⁠ ⁠Textile Exchange / RAF standards (RWS, RDS, etc.)

•⁠ ⁠Better Cotton

•⁠ ⁠SMETA / SEDEX

•⁠ ⁠Higg FEM

•⁠ ⁠FSC Chain of Custody

•⁠ ⁠Other sustainability and supply-chain certification programs The role will primarily cover Spain and Portugal, with opportunities to support the wider IDFL Europe team through occasional audits and projects in other European countries.

Who We Are Looking For

Preference will be given to auditors who are already qualified or approved to conduct GOTS and/or Textile Exchange certification audits.

However,



we are also interested in professionals with relevant auditing experience in areas such as Better Cotton, SMETA/SEDEX, Higg FEM, FSC Chain of Custody, textile sustainability, environmental compliance, social compliance, or textile supply-chain certification.

Candidates with strong textile industry experience who have worked directly with certification schemes, certification bodies, sustainability programs, or supply-chain compliance are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

•⁠ ⁠Currently based in and legally authorized to work in Spain or Portugal

•⁠ ⁠Professional fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish

•⁠ ⁠Good professional level of English

•⁠ ⁠Previous experience conducting third-party certification, sustainability, environmental, chain-of-custody, or social compliance audits

•⁠ ⁠Experience with GOTS, GRS, RCS, OCS, RWS/RDS/RAF, Better Cotton, SMETA/SEDEX, Higg FEM, FSC, or comparable sustainability standards is highly desirable

•⁠ ⁠Understanding of textile supply chains, traceability, chain of custody, production processes, and/or social compliance

•⁠ ⁠Ability to work independently and manage audit assignments professionally

•⁠ ⁠Availability to travel within Spain, Portugal, and occasionally other European countries

•⁠ ⁠Strong communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills

•⁠ ⁠Experience in the textile, apparel, manufacturing, or certification industry is highly valued

Important: Experience exclusively in financial auditing, accounting, tax, or financial controlling does not meet the requirements for this position.
