BIOFIX LEGACY is developing one of the first industrial biochar plants in Catalonia, with the aim of transforming residual biomass into advanced carbon materials for sectors such as steelmaking, construction materials, agriculture, and carbon markets.

We are looking for a Materials Development Engineer to lead the development of BIOFIX's future products and their transfer from the laboratory to industrial scale.

Our mission is to turn biomass waste into industrial solutions capable of decarbonizing different production sectors through technically differentiated products.

The Opportunity

We are looking for someone capable of turning scientific knowledge into commercially viable industrial products.

The selected candidate will take part in the development of BIOFIX's future functional biochars, working closely with industrial clients, TECNIO centers, universities, and international organizations. They will play a key role in the company's technological differentiation.

Key Details

- Position: Materials Development Engineer
- Reports to: Carol Rius, Managing Director
- Location: Camarles (Baix Ebre)
- Compensation: €40,000–48,000 gross per year (indicative)
- Expected Start Date: November 2026

Mission of the Role Develop new biochars tailored to the requirements of different industrial sectors, validating their properties and leading their transfer to industrial production.

Responsibilities

1- Product Development

- Develop biochars adapted to different applications with a special focus on applications that enable permanent carbon capture. (agriculture, cement, etc.)
- Design new formulations according to market requirements.
- Characterize physical, chemical, and functional properties.
- Define technical product specifications.





2- Technology Transfer

- Convert R&D; results into industrial processes.
- Participate in pilot trials and industrial scale-up.
- Coordinate validations with clients.
- Develop quality protocols.

3- Innovation

- Seek funding and international collaborations to position BIOFIX at the state of the art in biochar.
- Identify new applications for biochar.
- Coordinate projects with universities and TECNIO centers.
- Carry out technology scouting and monitoring.

4- Certification

Candidate profile 1- Education

- Chemical Engineering
