The Team
Cundall’s Civil Engineering team pride ourselves on our exemplary track record of designing innovative and sustainable civil engineering and infrastructure solutions, focused on improving and protecting the environment in which we live, while providing the facilities required for day-to-day life, transport, industry and development to function effectively. As one of the longest established of Cundall’s many disciplines, the Civil Engineering team are a source of world-leading expertise and offer a proactive and collaborative approach to skill development, technical excellence and professional growth across our European and international projects.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Madrid office and play a key role in the delivery and growth of our civil engineering work across Spain, Europe and the Middle East. Working alongside a team of specialist engineers and technicians, and collaborating closely with colleagues across a range of disciplines, you will be responsible for the delivery of technically excellent and commercially successful civil engineering projects within the built environment.
You will take responsibility for the design and coordination of a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage, flood risk assessments, pavements, public realm, earthworks and utility infrastructure, taking schemes from initial concept and risk identification through approvals and detailed design for construction.
A key part of the role will be supporting project delivery in Spain, including liaising with clients, architects, local authorities and wider design teams, and applying relevant Spanish technical requirements, approval processes and professional standards.
You will also support the development of less experienced engineers,
contribute to the continued growth of the Madrid civil engineering team, and help ensure that sustainability remains at the forefront of our infrastructure design approach.
The Skills
Educated to degree level in Civil Engineering or Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos, you will be a qualified civil engineer with demonstrable experience in a consultancy environment. You should be colegiado, or eligible for colegiación, with the Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos (CICCP). You should have strong technical knowledge of civil engineering design for the built environment in Spain, including experience in drainage, highways, earthworks, external works, utilities and public realm design, together with an understanding of local approval routes and coordination with Spanish authorities and utility providers.
You will be well versed in relevant civil design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage and QGIS. Knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools such as HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller or equivalent software would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will possess both technical knowledge and managerial ability, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, managing multiple workstreams, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and supporting less experienced engineers.
Crucially, you share Cundall’s passion for creative, sustainable and intuitive design, and are motivated by the opportunity to help shape high-quality infrastructure solutions for projects in Spain and internationally.
