? Role overview:
Permanent position
Location : Madrid Office The Senior Accounting Lead is responsible for leading and executing the day-to-day accounting activities of the Spanish entity, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with IFRS and local GAAP, and a robust control environment. The role acts as the accounting subject matter expert, supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, statutory reporting, audits, and accounting-related projects.
The Senior Accountant
Lead partners closely with local and Group Finance teams to ensure high-quality financial reporting and compliance with corporate policies.
? Key Responsabilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Coordinate and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Group reporting timelines.
- Ensure the preparation of statutory and management financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Act as the subject matter expert on IFRS, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and new business initiatives.
- Prepare and document technical accounting assessments and accounting position papers.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Collaborate closely with Controlling, Consolidation, Treasury, and Business teams to ensure high-quality financial reporting.
Audit, Governance & Risk
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely delivery of supporting documentation.
- Maintain strong internal controls across accounting processes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify accounting risks and support remediation actions when required Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members where applicable.
- Collaborate with Group Finance and Group Tax teams to ensure alignment with corporate policies and strategic objectives.
- Support finance transformation initiatives and system enhancements
Coordination & Collaboration
- Act as the accounting subject matter expert for the Spanish entity.
- Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day activities of the accounting team, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality execution of accounting processes and reporting deliverables.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members when applicable.
- Collaborate with Group Finance teams to ensure alignment with reporting requirements and accounting policies.
- Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, process optimization, and system enhancements.
? You're a match:
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Work Experience
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in Accounting and Financial Reporting.
- Previous experience within a Big 4 Audit practice is highly preferred.
- Experience within a multinational environment.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting and statutory accounting requirements.
- Experience managing internal and external audits.
- Experience in regulated industries is considered an asset.
Other Skills
- Solid knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP.
- ERP experience (Navision).
- Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.

- Spanish & English fluent
