? About Mapon
Mapon builds B2B SaaS for companies whose work happens in the physical world. Our platform helps businesses manage vehicles, drivers, and equipment, improve road safety, reduce costs, automate daily operations, and comply with complex transport regulations.
We started in Riga in 2006. Today, more than 35,000 clients use Mapon, with over 400,000 connected devices on the platform. We have 200+ colleagues across Europe and a network of 150+ partners worldwide. In 2025, Mapon grew revenue by 22.8% to 24.2 million EUR while remaining profitable. We have completed 8 acquisitions and intend to keep growing organically and through M&A.;
What makes Mapon interesting to build is the connection between software and the real world. Code can become something that helps prevent an accident, avoid downtime, meet complex regulations or make an entire day of work simpler.
? Engineering at Mapon
Our Engineering department brings together 50+ people across nine teams. Riga is our main engineering hub, with colleagues elsewhere in Europe and beyond contributing to the same product, roadmap, and technical standards.
We continuously develop one SaaS platform used across different countries and industries. It’s a mature product with real scale- but there is still plenty to rethink, improve and create.
We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead to join one of our product engineering teams - Integrations - to effectively lead the team through the development process and ensure quality and on-time delivery of solutions following modern development principles.
In this role, you'll lead both back-end and front-end developers and collaborate closely with the Product Owner to design, develop, and maintain solutions such as driver time tracking, customer self-service, our fully owned API, and industry-level integrations with partners like Volkswagen OEM. The team works on a broad and diverse product area, offering the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of impactful solutions.
? Your tasks will be:
Delivery & execution
- Own the engineering & delivery aspects— sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint goals, and the full lifecycle from planning through release and maintenance, aligned with Product Manager priorities
- Keep delivery predictable through effective processes and a healthy balance between business projects, internal improvements, and operational work
- Stay on top of timelines, scope,
and milestones — flag risks early and keep stakeholders in the loop
Technical leadership & architecture
- Shape and maintain the team's technical direction, architecture, and long-term roadmap, keeping it aligned with where the business and product are heading
- Lead solution design and architectural decisions — covering non-functional requirements, risks, and trade-offs — and make sure the important ones are documented
- Spot technical debt and improvement opportunities, then prioritize and drive initiatives that make the team faster, the product better, and developers happier
- Champion modern tooling, AI-assisted development, QA automation, and observability (Sentry, Grafana, Prometheus)
Team leadership & people development
- Build a team culture where people feel safe to speak up, take ownership, collaborate, and keep learning — while keeping workloads sustainable
- Help your team grow through regular 1:1s, development plans, coaching, mentoring, and honest, constructive feedback
- Make sure everyone has the context they need — goals, priorities, roadmap, OKRs — so the team can make good decisions autonomously
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and bi-annual performance reviews
Strategic & business alignment
- Be a true partner to the Product Manager — co-create roadmaps, advocate for technical initiatives, and connect technical decisions to business outcomes
- Ensure engineering work ties back to company, department, and team OKRs, and communicate those goals clearly to the team
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and making decisions grounded in data
- Keep the team's knowledge base honest and up to date — technical designs, decision logs, and processes should be reliable and accessible
⚙️ We expect from you:
- Previous experience in the role of Technical Lead or equivalent;
- Proficiency in programming, with a preference for web development, and extensive familiarity with associated technologies such as PHP, MySQL,
NoSQL, Docker, Redis, Git, CI/CD, Automated Tests, Caching, Metrics, and Monitoring. Experience in handling large datasets and real-time data processing will be an advantage;
- In-depth knowledge of solution architecture (principles, types, and patterns), design patterns, clean code principles, and development best practices;
- Understanding of the non-functional requirements of development and solutions - maintainability, scalability, reliability, security, performance, availability, and privacy;
- Hands-on experience in Agile methodologies;
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional growth;
- A positive mindset, ambition, initiative, a focus on product-oriented thinking, and high expectations for both yourself and your team.
