About the Role

We are looking for a DBA Consultant to join an international technology environment, taking responsibility for the operation, maintenance, performance, and governance of databases and middleware across cloud environments deployed in Europe.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and operations teams based in Spain and China, contributing to initiatives related to technology standardization, governance, migration, and the optimization of applications and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

- Manage the operation, maintenance, and support of databases and middleware products deployed across European environments.
- Contribute to the governance and evolution of database and middleware architecture.
- Perform administration, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and incident resolution activities.
- Participate in the OnCall service , handling and resolving incidents related to databases, middleware, and cloud resources.
- Analyze and resolve functional and performance issues, identifying root causes and proposing corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with technical teams in China to define and implement common database and middleware management standards.
- Participate in technology governance, standardization, and platform and application migration initiatives.
- Manage the daily operation, maintenance, and releases of applications deployed across European environments.
- Collaborate on the implementation of common standards for managing containerized applications.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at optimizing and improving application resource utilization.
- Analyze resource consumption and utilization to identify opportunities to improve performance, capacity, and efficiency.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of configurations, operational procedures, and incidents.

Required Skills

Systems and Networking

- Solid knowledge of Linux and fundamental operating system principles.
- Knowledge of networking protocols,



particularly TCP/IP and HTTP .
- Ability to perform troubleshooting tasks in systems and production environments.

Databases

- Solid experience in the administration and operation of at least one relational database.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following technologies:
- MySQL
- PostgreSQL
- Other equivalent relational databases.
- Knowledge of database administration, configuration, monitoring, backup, recovery, and optimization.
- Ability to analyze performance, availability, and capacity issues.

Caching Systems

- Experience administering and operating at least one distributed caching technology.
- Practical knowledge of:
- Redis
- Memcached
- Or equivalent technologies.
- Ability to perform configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization tasks.

Monitoring and Observability

- Experience with monitoring and observability tools, particularly:
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- Ability to interpret metrics, identify anomalies, and contribute to the resolution of performance and availability issues.

Cloud and Applications

- Experience operating databases and middleware in cloud environments.
- Knowledge of distributed applications and modern architectures.
- Experience with containerized and cloud-native environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of technology platform migration and standardization processes.

AI and Emerging Technologies

- Interest in and knowledge of key Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) technologies.
- Knowledge of frameworks for developing AI Agents .
- Strong curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies,



with the ability to stay up to date in a constantly evolving technology environment.

Compliance and Security

- Knowledge of European data protection regulations, particularly GDPR .
- Ability to apply privacy and regulatory compliance principles when managing data and systems.
- Strong awareness of information security and data protection in production environments.

Desirable Skills

- Experience working with public cloud environments.
- Experience with microservices architectures and distributed applications.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and container technologies.
- Experience with other relational and NoSQL database technologies.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting tools, particularly Python or Shell .
- Experience with database migration and modernization processes.
- Experience in incident management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) .
- Experience working with DevOps/SRE methodologies.
- Experience working in international environments and with distributed teams.

Languages

- English: Advanced level, essential for communication and collaboration with international teams.
- Chinese: Highly desirable due to direct collaboration with engineering and operations teams based in China.
- Candidates with the legal right to work in Spain and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment will be particularly valued.
