Lead AI Agent Engineer - Security Operations
Initial contract till end of 2026 (consultant) + possible extension after
Leuven (3 days onsite per week)

Overview:
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how cybersecurity teams operate. Our client is looking for a Lead AI Agent Engineer (Cybersecurity & Security Operations) who will help build and operationalize the next generation of AI-powered cybersecurity capabilities. Working closely with their Security Operations team, you will develop AI agents that enhance threat intelligence, vulnerability management, exposure management, third-party risk management and cyber risk decision-making. This role is focused on applying AI to cybersecurity use cases and helping shape the future of AI-enabled Security Operations at our client. Your work will directly contribute to protecting one of the world's leading research and innovation organizations. While you will apply secure-by-design principles within your own AI developments, the primary focus of this role is leveraging AI to improve cybersecurity capabilities rather than providing AI governance, AI compliance or AI risk management services. Beyond building individual AI agents, you will help shape how artificial intelligence is embedded into the daily operation of our client’s Security Operations capability, enabling their security team to scale its effectiveness through intelligent automation and analyst augmentation.
The assignment
As Lead AI Agent Engineer, you will help define, build and operationalize AI agents that increase the effectiveness,
scalability and resilience of Security Operations at our client. You design and build AI agents that support concrete cybersecurity and security operations use cases and create measurable value for the Security Operations team.
- Take ownership of the full AI agent lifecycle, from use case identification and design through deployment, adoption and continuous improvement. You build and maintain AI agents supporting security operations use cases (e.g. threat intelligence gathering and enrichment
- Identify emerging opportunities where AI can create measurable value for Security Operations and rapidly validate these ideas through structured experimentation.
- Translate cybersecurity and security operations challenges into practical AI-enabled solutions that are reliable, maintainable and suitable for production use.
- Work closely with security analysts, engineers and subject matter experts to refine requirements, validate outcomes and support adoption. You ensure that delivered solutions can be adopted, maintained and supported by the Security Operations team after the assignment ends.
- Build, deploy and maintain production-ready AI agents that can be sustainably operated by the security operations team.
- Create clear technical documentation,
operational procedures and knowledge transfer materials to enable long-term support by the Security Operations team.
- Establish sustainable handover and knowledge transfer so the SOC team can take over operational support.
- Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Required knowledge and skills
- Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, security operations, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, exposure management, incident response or related cybersecurity disciplines.(minimum 2 years is mandatory)
- Proven experience designing and delivering AI-enabled solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Experience building, deploying and maintaining production-ready solutions.
- Able to work independently and take ownership from concept to implementation, documentation and handover.
- Strong understanding of operational requirements and the ability to translate them into robust and scalable solutions.
- Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in multidisciplinary environments. Skills & mindset
